Abstract:
The study aims to identify the role of women's newspapers in addressing Egyptian women's issues, to know the most important information provided by women's newspapers to enrich issues related to Egyptian women, and to identify the most important sources relied upon in raising issues. It also aims to clarify the most important ethics that women's newspapers must adhere to, and to reveal the image of Egyptian women in women's newspapers, in addition to evaluating the contribution of women's newspapers in addressing Egyptian women's issues. The study followed the media survey method to survey all journalistic materials related to Egyptian women's issues in women's newspapers. Among the most important results: Egyptian women's newspapers focused on topics that do not affect the priorities of Egyptian women, and there was no strong focus on essential issues such as women's empowerment or developing and improving women's personalities. The focus was on encouraging a culture of consumption related to cooking, food, cosmetics, fashion, décor, etc. Important issues such as women’s ethics, raising children, and religious issues were ignored or marginally treated whereas issues related to horoscopes and beauty were focused on.
