 Abstract:
This study aims to identify the ethical challenges in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and their impact on media freedom. The study was applied to a sample of 15 journalists and academics who are experts in the field of media using the uncodified interview tool. One of the most prominent ethical challenges of AI techniques in the field of media, as found in this study, is the spread of fake news and rumors, especially in light of the huge information momentum that is currently witnessed in our modern time. Deepfake is one of such techniques that are difficult to detect whether at the level of information, data, images, videos, etc. AI is also exploited to implement intellectual property thefts, embezzlement of scientific ideas, bias and lack of integrity in the information presented by AI techniques. In addition, it can be used for electronic blackmail and cybercrimes that threaten the security and safety of citizens. The respondents stressed that to ensure media freedom, it is necessary to use these technologies with caution and transparency and to maintain ethical principles in providing information and news.
