Morality and the Mechanism for Building Rational Awareness

Abstract:
This research explores - in a rhetorical study - one of the great topics related to the mission of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), namely the topic of ethics. The research is divided into three main themes: Ethics as the purpose and goal, mechanisms for building rational awareness through education and development, and our neglected Islamic mechanisms for cultivating and activating ethical principles in preparing our generation. This study presents definitions of key concepts for each theme and mentions the goals of rhetorical mechanisms according to Imam Al-Khattabi (319 - 388 AH) and Imam Al-Jurjani (d. 471 AH) through citations of certain Quranic verses. The research has reached several conclusions, including that noble ethics are a fundamental pillar of Islam. Furthermore, not every Muslim possesses refined and praiseworthy character; rather, every true believer possesses such noble character. Recounting the words of the Bedouins, Allah Almighty says, "The Bedouins say, 'We have believed.' Say, 'You have not yet believed; but say [instead], ‘We have submitted,’ for faith has not yet entered your hearts..." (Quran 49:14). Additionally, the Quran was revealed in a manner that gathers diverse meanings within a single surah to make it more beneficial and more useful.
