Abstract:
This study aims to examine the language of the Holy Quran in Luqman’s advice to his son in light of sociolinguistics, which studies language in its social context. Luqman’s advice contains societal values making it a fertile field for studying its language and explaining its connotation and impact on society. The Quranic verses related to Luqman’s advice have been analyzed at various linguistic levels: phonological, morphological, and syntactic, clarifying their meanings within the context of the verses. A descriptive approach was used in this study, employing statistical and analytical tools. The research yielded several findings, including that the language of the Quran is suitable for studies across all ages and eras. The study showed that the phonemic units in the verses carry semantic implications fitting the context, such as the phonemic suggestion in the word “wahn” (weakness), which is consistent with the interpretation of the word in the noble verse. The research highlighted the miraculous nature of the Quranic text in selecting morphological units that are compatible with the purposes of the noble verses. The research also showed that the syntactic structures affect the meaning of Luqman’s advice and their impact on the recipient
