This study, which uses the inductive approach, aims to demonstrate the effect of the rule of blocking or permitting pretexts on building moral awareness, and that this rule is considered a decisive factor for blocking the source of evil and corruption. This rule has had an important role in blocking the pretexts that lead to corruption of morals, and permitting the ones that achieve a predominant benefit. The study also aims to explain the categories of such pretexts, demonstrating that they are not all of the same level. Additionally, it seeks to clarify the precepts for applying this rule, emphasizing that its application is not absolute. The study also aims to explain some of the morals that have been deemed reprehensible by Sharia, including watching pornographic websites, which leads to adultery; being submissive in speech; photographing the poor when distributing charity, showing off one’s adornment and immodest clothes; and selling sex dolls. The study indicates that such matters should be prevented in order not to lead to greater corruption. On the other hand, the study also aims to explain that some reprehensible matters are deemed permissible because they can help achieve a predominant benefit, including lying when reconciling between disputants, backbiting when necessary, and revealing private parts when seeking treatment.
