Abstract:
This research aims to define what is meant by rationalization of consumption according to a legal goal-oriented perspective, which clarifies the Sharia’s interest in that concept, especially since that concept is clearly evident in many texts of the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). The research also addresses some of the contemporary applications of that concept, and what the individual and society must do in that regard. Thus, through this application, the goals of the individuals agree with the goals of of the Sharia, so happiness in this world and the hereafter can be achieved. An inductive and analytical approach has been followed in tracing, studying, and analyzing the legal texts whose explanations have clearly proved that they revolve around the desire to rationalize consumption. The research has reached many results, the most important of which are: rationalization of consumption in its contemporary sense is not a new term, neither in its origins nor in its concept. Rather, it is a term deeply rooted in the texts of Islamic heritage. The concept of rationalization in Sharia is not limited to money; rather, it expands to include religion, soul, mind, property, and offspring.
