Abstract:
This study examines the value of awareness and ethics in human development by exploring the role of the intellect in guiding individuals on a journey of self-discovery and self-awareness. The process begins with self-knowledge, focusing on the introspective examination of oneself in all its details. From there, one cultivates awareness of Allah and others by abandoning negative traits and embracing virtuous ones, delving into the essence and source of ethics. Ibn Arabi posits that both ethics and knowledge are intrinsic, veiled by the body. Everything is within us. Thus, Ibn Arabi believes that ethics are not merely about performing actions or words in alignment with pure nature, law, or Sharia; rather, they reach far deeper, holding a profound, divine truth, as everything is ultimately linked to a divine reality. The study follows inductive, analytical, and inferential methods, aiming to understand the motives behind these virtues and the path to achieving them. Key findings include the idea that – next to Allah Almighty – reason is humanity's guide and mentor; individuals must strive to develop themselves by embodying good morals and shedding harmful traits.
