Islamic Endowment (Waqf) and Its Role in Constructing the World Abdul Aziz bin Mutea Al-Hejeili. Department of Jurisprudence, Islamic University, Medina, KSA. Email: r_55@live.com Abstract: This research highlights one of the Islamic legislative systems, the waqf (endowment), and its role in sustaining life and ensuring dignity for humanity. The study defines waqf, clarifies its conformity to Sharia, the wisdom of its legislation, and its role in building social life and sustaining communities. One of the main findings of the research is that waqf enriches both individuals and communities, helping prevent deviation, homelessness, and loss, through the grace of Allah. It fosters love, compassion, and strengthens bonds of faith within Muslim communities. Waqf provides for the needs of the poor and preserves their dignity, supporting societal welfare and promoting security by reducing the inclination of those in need to covet the possessions of others, as waqf supplies them with means for a dignified life. Additionally, waqf is shown to be a charitable act whose rewards are ongoing, unrestricted, benefiting the donor both in life and in the afterlife.
