Abstract:
The research aims to clarify the rulings in Islamic jurisprudence intended to protect the environment from various forms of pollution and corruption. This is based on the principles of jurisprudence, such as promoting benefits, preventing harm, and removing damage. The study followed an inductive-deductive approach, examining jurisprudential rulings, religious texts, and scholars' interpretations to deduce aspects of environmental preservation from these rulings and texts. Key findings of the research include: Islamic jurisprudence provides comprehensive rulings necessary for people’s interactions, encourages virtuous behavior, and prohibits its opposites. Allah Almighty mandates the preservation of the environment from corruption and prohibits destruction on earth. Among the aspects of environmental preservation in Islamic jurisprudence are: prohibiting extravagance in water usage, prohibiting water pollution, prohibiting hunting or cutting plants in sacred areas, prohibiting killing non-harmful animals without purpose, forbidding the slaughter of a lactating sheep, and encouraging agriculture as crop destruction is deemed corruption on earth. Also, it is dislikable to attend the mosque after eating garlic or onion, and it is required to have a bath before attending the Friday prayer. All of these guidelines aim to sustain a livable environment on earth for humans throughout their time here.
