Abstract:
This study represents an attempt to establish one of the most critical issues of our time: intellectual tolerance, as reflected in the second source of Islamic legislation- the Prophetic Tradition (Sunnah). The study aims to outline the mechanisms that demonstrate the Sunnah's vision of this type of tolerance, revealing the foundations it laid to establish and promote intellectual tolerance and its wise applications in the reality of the Muslim community. The study adopts descriptive, analytical, and deductive methods, using content analysis of Prophetic hadiths to highlight a foundational approach to this issue. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of establishing the concept of intellectual tolerance, spreading it among thinkers in our contemporary world, fostering a culture of dialogue and communication, and rejecting intellectual violence and exclusion. In addition, it reveals the practical application of intellectual tolerance in the Sunnah through historical incidents recorded in the books of the Prophet's biography. The study also emphasizes that during the stages of cultural exchange and translation, particularly in the Umayyad era and subsequent periods, the Arab and Islamic civilization showcased values of intellectual tolerance.
