Abstract:
          This research examines the concepts of "waqqf" (pause) and "ibtida" (resumption) as important phonetic aspects of Quranic performance. It focuses on the verses of Surah Al-Anfal in which radio reciters in Egypt differ in whether to pause or resume after them, as well as the verses in which they differ in how to begin reciting. The reciters under study include Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi, Sheikh Mustafa Ismail, Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, and Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, may Allah have mercy on them all and grant them the highest ranks in Paradise. The research aims to clarify the semantic impact resulting from these differences among reciters and to determine which approach, whether pausing, resuming, or starting anew, is more appropriate. The study employs a descriptive methodology with statistical and analytical tools, as well as an experimental approach using audio analysis software (Praat). Some of the main findings of the research include: Emphasizing that a proficient reciter is one who knows when to pause, when to resume, and where to begin recitation if they need to pause at a particular point while keeping the intended meaning in mind. It's as if their recitation explains the verses to the listener.
