Abstract:
This research is an attempt to shed light on one of the imams of criticism, who has not received enough study. It is a trial to clarify Al-Azdy's statement "should be reviewed" (fihi Nazar) and his intended meaning by launching and using such a term. The research highlights the efforts of this critic, and notes some of his methodology in Modification and Defamation (Al-Garh wa At-Taadil). In addition, the research states some of the words and terms of criticism that is used by Al-Azdy in criticizing narrators and their narrations. The research includes a short biography of Al-Azdy gathered from some biography books specialized in men's of Hadith. The researcher tries his best to edit Al-Azdy 's biography, and identifies his rank in Hadith criticism. The research also collects the narrators whom described by Imam Al-Azdy by: "should be reviewed. The researcher explores such narrators' biographies and tackles the different opinions of critics regarding those narrators, that of Al-Azdy's and the statements of other critics on such narrators. Moreover, as a researcher I was keen on reading the books of Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, which deal with biographies of narrators mentioned in this research, especially "Hadey As-Sari", "Lisan Al-Mizan ", "Taqreeb At-Tahzib", and others of Ibn Hajar 's books that are very useful in editing the biographies of these narrator and reaching a fair opinion regarding those narrators. The research concludes that: the narrators whom Al-Azdy described as "should be reviewed " are not trusted by the majority of the other critics. His saying is not contrary to them in most cases. Al-Azdi's remark on the narrator by this phrase in a hadith means the extreme weakness of the hadith in terms of attribution and corpus.
