Prompting "Lawla" in the Language and the Holy Quran

Abstract:
The Holy Quran is the miracle of Islam and it remains soever,   and it is the sincere proof of the truth of the Mohammedan message until Allah inherits the earth and whoever is on it, so many linguists studied its vocabulary, structures and various styles. The use of the prepositions that convey meanings (not only functional) in the Arabic language and the Holy Quran, and assigning them to the appropriate linguistic positions in the language is a matter that requires accuracy and precise processing. The aim of  the research is detecting the structures and positions in which it could occur in the language and the Holy Quran. This research adopts two methodologies: the first, is the descriptive approach to study Prompting " Lawla " and  investigate its truth, meaning and the fact that it only collocates with verbs, then the study traced the occurrences of  " Lawla" in the Holy Quran. The second, is the historical approach which consists of arranging the sayings of scholars from the oldest to the newest . Several findings were concluded, the most important  of  which is that "Lawla" is the most commonly used preposition for prompting  in the Quran as it appears in forty-one places, it is followed by  the present verb or the past if is the future is intended.  Moreover, it indicates with "prompting" other meanings such as such as reprimand, shame, denial and incapacity.
