Abstract
The present study aims to investigate the topic of "The Experience of the “City” in Farouk Jweideh's Poetry, in terms of dimensions and formations", through a descriptive-analytical approach, which observes the phenomenon in the text and analyzes it using various modern critical tools such as stylistics, pragmatics, and semiotics. The study arrives at some conclusions, most important of which is that the “city”, with its various dimensions, was a source of inspiration for the poet, Farouk Jweideh, in his poetic experience; it emerged in his poetry as an important and prominent topic that called for study and research. “The city” is a key word in Farouk Jweideh’s poetry, from which he set out to express his vision towards many issues of reality, life, society and man. (The city) was expressed in Farouk Jweideh’s poetry as a negative contrast to “the village”; the most important dimensions of this negativity include (alienation/ insult / crowding / loneliness / moral degradation), which created the contrast between (the village / the city) in his poetry, and highlighted his positive attitude towards the village.
