Abstract
This study investigates a vital important aspect of the honorable life of our noble Prophet, Mohamed (May the Prayer and Peace of Allah be upon him (PBUH)), namely, his strategic planning and preparation for early Muslim’s battles in the prophet’s era. These battles were based on a number of principles and foundations that reflected the vision of a skillful strategic leader whose leadership played a great role in Muslims’ victories. Besides, it is the leadership that used to be, and still serves as, a way of life that is deeply rooted in human history as manifested by the underlying history-transcending principles, values, and works. Key among these principles was the preparation of battlefields. The Prophet (PBUH) showed great interest in the topography of battlefields and how to make full use of the natural resources they had, including the carefully and accurate selected battlefields that were rich in water; a key driver of battle developments and an equally key factor of victory for Muslims. Through an inference-based analytical approach, the researcher has found that the battle fields chosen by the Prophet and his keenness on securing water sources are the outcomes of careful and accurate considerations of facts, marking key grounds for the victories achieved in those battles. Accordingly, the Prophet had a clear and informed vision that was intelligibly put in perspective to realize the sought-after objective. Such carefully developed plans were the outcomes of powerfully smart strategic planning considering the role planning and preparations played, and still plays by Muslims, in winning battles.
